I would check with a Mercury dealer near you. They may have it in bulk. Or it's probably sold by part# comes in about 38" long about 25.00

I thought most folks got rid of the " back drag " feature on those inline 6 carburetors.

Educate me if you will. I had one of the last 115 towers built back in '89 and it had back drag......push the throttle to wide open and back off, set the timing fully advanced but closed the butterflies somewhat, reducing fuel consumption....way better than a 1972 OMC 125 I had. Seems my current 4 cyl still uses the function. Why would one disable it?

Back drag came out in 1975 and was used at least to 1989 if it were no good they would have dropped it very quickly. I would think that the quality of the oil would have more to do with damaging the motor. I have a 1975 850 it has BD and no signs of internal damage so that's my experience.

I would expect most any rubber hose of the correct ID to work fine. Take the old one to an auto parts place and match it up. You only need less than 6 inches. Should be $3 or so.

I remember reading that ad back in the day. On your 850, I had one, about a '79ish on a 16' glass bass boat. One perfect engine. One of it's finer points was starting. I could go to the ramp on a cold winter day, drive up, launch, park, get in and be on my way when other rigs at the dock were fiddling with their engines trying to get them to start. Had a 10 gallon tank in the boat and never worried about running out.

merc850 Curious - Did you post this? It's not your style to make an off topic post. The busted forum is making me leery.

OK - Concerned because it seemed out of place. With the way the forum has been acting, well 'nough said.

It is neat pic.
