I have just acquired a Chaparral 216 SSI and will be using it as a Dive Boat. The seats in the boat are perfect and I do not want to mess them up. So was thinking about taking the seats out over the storage areas and looking for ideas on putting non cushioned seats in place. Was thinking about fiberglassing plywood cut to the same shape as the seats and applying non-skid tape strips on top.. Is this a viable option or is there something better? Would like them to come out white to match the inside of the boat. Will this hold up to people walking on them and setting dive tanks and gear on? Thank You for any suggestions!!

Starboard AS ( AS = anti slip ) might be a good option -- It works like wood and comes in different colors -- very tough // It does not rot and will most likely look better when completed.

It is more expensive than wood -- but much less labor that glassing wood and painting or gelcoat etc

It's often sold by the square foot --

Hope you have a thick Wallet. Starboard is NOT cheap! Properly sealed plywood will last a LONG time. If this is a temporary seating arrangement I'd go with the plywood.
