I have a 73 85 HP Rude that has a melted Stator. Any harm in replacing a 6 AMP with a 12? I could use the extra charging capacity for another battery. Thanks!
You need to also install the rest of the kit if you do. That would include a voltage regulator for sure. Go to http://shop.evinrude.com/ click on electrinic parts catalog, then select OB Accessories from the drop-down list. Find the 12 amp kit and see what it includes.
