replacement of spring on 4hp pull starter

I need to replace a broken starter spring on a 1987 4 hp deluxe Evinrude. It is a model E4RDHCUD and the starter mounts to the port side of the block. It is described as a swing arm gear dive starter. I have an OMC manual but it does not give any real detail on how to replace just the the spring. I need to do this with out buying any special OMC tools. So far, all I have done is remove the shoulder screw so I could look inside the starter assembly to see if the spring was broke and of course it was.

I do not have an OMC manual but I do have a Clymer Outboard shop manual for evinrude. I do not want to buy another manual for an old 4 hp.

thanks for your help in locating this manual. I seem to have only one problem with the site. When I try and print a page, all I get is a black piece of paper. No picture or print is produced. Other than that, I can read the manual just fine on the desktop page.
