replaceing the vro fuel pump with a standard fuel pump

about a year ago i removed the vro system and mix my gas. motor shut down suddenly yesterday when trying to start. started and ran good for 2-3 hours and suddenly would not start. tried to start but would not . checked it today and found that when i pumped the ball it would pump gas into the filter and the motor would not suck the gas up to the pump.. could it be the pump? turn the key and it tries start the first second.. pump the ball and it does the same thing. 50 hp mod. E50BELCDE

Might be ignition-related. Check spark with an adjustable open air tester (auto parts store). 3/8 inch or more, and sharp.

checked both plugs, spark on both. ordered new gas line (black) and new filter. now thinking bad gas and loaded up filter. was going to wait for line and filter and try that. have fresh non-ethanol gas.

after looking around the inside of the motor i found the spark advance linkage laying on the bottom . the linkage ball sockets came off the linkage. going to pick up parts today and put back on. probably original parts and rotted. will follow up when finished. thanks

installed new ball sockets , started right up!!
