Need advise on replacing metal siding on '92 19'Sunchaser deck boat. Manufacturer is out of business. Where can I get metal siding? Is it expensive and/or difficult to work with? Are there any advantages to replacing with canvas?

Re: Replace siding on party barge

Hi there
I need some help in this problem too....Someone suggested the aluminum coil that siding contractors use.... I went to Home Depot and found they have two colors in stock.......wheat (tan) and white... It comes in a 50 foot x 24" rolls.... My problem is that my siding is only about 17" .......so that means lots of cutting...I am looking for any suggestions to this problem too.....
Oh and btw we are neighbors, I live in Laplace between Baton Rouge and New Orleans
Good Luck

Go to the Yellow Pages and look under "Siding Suppliers". You may have to be specific and look under "Metal Siding".

Here is a link to a supplier in Baton Rouge that I pulled from the net:

Siding Supplier

You may even want to contact a contractor that does metal roofing. Most metal roofing is rolled on-site now and they can actually adjust the width. And an added plus is the material comes in a large variety of colors, is usually baked enamel and is guaranteed to retain the color for many, many years.

Go to any good siding hanger and he can break that stuff any width you want and probably has some left over from a job that he will discount to you. the material will cost more then the labor to cut it to size
