I have a 1986 Ebco Montecarlo 19' walk thru runabout

I had the transom replaced 3 years ago, but during carpet replacement this winter I found that the flooring in the rear of the boat was rotted.

Do I go thru all the work to replace the stringer and flooring in the rear of the boat or do I just parts out the boat???

It has a OMC Cobra 205 hp V-6 which has been well maintained and is in perfect condition..

Am I throwing good money after bad with a boat this age??

thanks!

Sooo when the transom was replaced, the Stringers, and motor mounts were all in good shape at that time?

If you are paying someone to redo the boat and it does not have some sentimental value then it probably will not be worth it. If you are doing it yourself then It can be worth it just not in value. It will be worth the piece of mind and the fact that it will be a solid boat and you can't buy another boat without the same issues for the money spent repairing this one. Now because its the OMC if there is anything wrong with the drive then its pretty much scrap or you will be redoing the transom and finding a donor mercury outdrive and engine to swap in. It really is up to you but any money you put into it you will never get out of it. We do it for the love of a boat or knowing that we can't afford a new boat and any used boat has the chance more likely possibility to have the same issues so we work on making the one we already have the safest it can be so it will last for many years.
