Renovating houseboat

I am renovating a 1981 houseboat, and my two biggest concerns are heat and weight. Is drywall too heavy? What are the alternatives? Also, I have a single layer of plywood flooring over the metal floor joists. What is the best way to insulate the floor? I hesitate to add a lot of weight to the boat.

Lot of houseboat seem to use paneling of some form or another. Not sure that I about the use of drywall with all the moisture would work.

Ayuh,...

I would think foamboard of some sort would be best for insulating,...

Instead of drywall,... Have a look at This...
My 69 Nautiline uses mostly 1/4" wood paneling,... Ceilings have it with a vinyl coating,...
I'm going with the Sequentia...

Drywall is Heavy,+ Sucks up water like a Sponge...

Re: Renovating houseboat

Thanks for the responses. After doing a little more research, I have decided to nix the idea of drywall and just go with 1/4" wood panels. The walls are already insulated with 1 1/2" foam panels. I have reinforced that with another round where I can access it. Still wondering if there is anything I can do to insulate the single layer of plywood floor. I have another concern: Do I need to use marine plywood on the floor? 3/4"? There is about 1 1/2 foot of clearance between the floor and the water.

Thank you!
