Hello, I have a 65hp 1973 Evinrude Triumph that runs perfectly ... until I broke one side of the transom bracket! I have a new bracket (actually I have the entire swivel mount with both brackets) but cannot figure out how to remove this from the boat without taking the power head off and removing the lower unit. There has to be another way, right? Or does the engine have to be disassembled to replace this clamp?

Thanks for any information!
Andy

Unbolt and remove the motor from the boat. Then remove the hollow tilt tube. Look it over real good between the brackets to see what else needs to be removed (shock absorbers, etc.) But if you want to replace the whole assembly, yes you do have to remove the powerhead and then the exhaust housing from the swivel/mounts
