I've been looking for a late 90s early 2000 Yamaha 90hp 2 stroke to replace the 60 on my pontoon. I found a pretty nice bass boat with a 1997 Yamaha for $3500. I don't think the fellow realized the value of Yamahas until he was bombarded with calls trying to up price our deal. He honored our agreement but I may have a problem. He said that 5" section was easily removed but reading online I may require shorter driveshaft and shift linkage? Yes .... thats the question. Whats involved in removing that section? Or do I put the 25 shaft on the pontoon and run it like that? What harm would it do? I am concerned doing that because the section of lake I travel the water level changes by the hour and I'm worried the extra 5" may find more underwater logs. Thanks

you'll need a few parts to make it work.. A manual jack plate set up 5" would be easier
