i have a 1968 mercury 65hp outboard i need to know how to remove the stator to replace it with a new one. our to test it to see if it needs to be replaced. thank you luckyboater
Unbolt the Flywheel just under that you will see the stator. It is easily removed chech the wires for corrosion this is a tell tale sign it is more than likely bad. you will need an ohm meter to check the tolorences hope this helps good luck
