Removing paint

Hello I just bought a used boat and the oringnal owner painted the registration numbers on the side . It looks nice but im not a big fan of it .I was wondering if anyone knows a way to remove it without damaging the gel coat thanks!

Start with acetone and elbow grease.

Thank you i wasnt sure if acetone would damage the gel coat !

Wet sand with 600 grit and hit it with cutting compound on a buffer. You'll never knew they were there.

If it's single pack paint then any antifouling stripper will remove it effortlessly without touching the gel-coat. If it's two-pack then sanding is the only way.
