I have a 1961 15ft Penn Yan wooden boat that I am restoring. The hull is done, but I still have the topside and inside of the boat to do. I've been having problems getting the old paint off the topside. I there a really good product out there to remove paint? Once I get done with the topside, I want to give it that nice shiney wood look. What would be the step by step process to getting this look and what type of varnish would I use? thanks

rwamell... when I restored my 1955 Lakefield I used a product called PVR manufactured by Dural. This stuff works really well...brush on but don't brush out. Leave it sit for five minutes, use a putty knife to remove and it's water washable for easy clean up. If you have a tough area just let it sit longer.

Ooooops this is the stripping stage. It didn't take long to remove the fifty years of varnish and three different colours of thick paint with the PVR Dural.

Do a google search on soygel, it is a product I have used for stripping that has worked when other products fail.
