I think carpet down below on a boat is about the worst thing. Anyone replace their carpet with vinyl flooring? I want the carpet out of my cabin!

Never done that but vinyl, a small amount of water, bare feet, rocking boat, looks like a slip and fall potential

I would use non skid tape on the stairs like they do for real wood.

Isn't that a new boat . . . You hardly have suffered long enough over the carpet in the cabin.

i have seen folks refinish their cabin sole with faux teak, wood flooring, etc. So it has been done. Take into account the different trim that you may need if you switch away from carpeting. One of the boats that I looked at during my boat search last year had the vinyl wood grain flooring, but the trim work looked out of place. In my mind, certainly detracted from the value of the boat as I was considering it.

In that size boat, carpet makes more sense than vinyl, or fake wood. We had snap in canvas covers on our cabin carpet during heavy use times, then snapped it off when we wanted to. Kept the original carpet like new .

I would caution against anything like vinyl that could trap moisture underneath it.

I am not a fan of carpet on boats either but it needs to be able to breathe and dry from underneath if it ever gets wet.

if you do vinyl then consider the peel and stick vinyl flooring, if moisture ever gets under it it will lift and unglue rather then mildew and rot

No one hates carpet on a boat more than me~~ except below decks. I'd prefer teak but you may find it cost prohibitive. If so, re carpet.

I used vinyl planks when updating my salon, but combined it with carpet to minimize slips. That part of the boat has a fiberglss sole so there's no concern with mildew or rot. I used a 2-part epoxy flooring adhesive and transitions from the carpet and steps are perfect. The new vinyl is 100X better than the hardwood floor that preceded it because it's completely waterproof.

Arks, looks familiar! :D.

I have carpet (area rug over the glued down) and vinyl plank in the galley. The carpet is more homely feeling than the vinyl.
