Hi first day on. hello to all. I have a Mariner 60 hp 2 stroke approx 1980. No reverse. I removed lower unit. Then i removed the prop along with nylon ring and locking plate/tab washer. I removed the plastic cover and the selector splined shaft. I removed the impeller housing and the housing below the impeller. The question is Which do i pull first? The output shaft or the long drive shaft that drops from the power head? There doesn't seem to be any thing else to undo. Will they be just tight in the housing? Any help would be greatfully received. I'm hopeless on forums. Its taken me 20 minutes to find how to post. Cheers

First things first celicatintin, :welcome: to iboats. Nice having you aboard...

I tried to research your engine but without the model number and serial number all I can do is give you an uneducated guess. Because Mariner doesn't go by year model but HP and serial numbers to distinguish available parts and break down views. However, seeing how the lower foot section goes together, I would think you have to remove the drive shaft to allow the prop assembly to be removed. Otherwise, the drive shaft will not allow the prop assembly to be removed out the back... If you would like to see a typical break down of your engine, go to boats dot com and type in the Make, HP, and serial number of your engine and look at how it is assembled... JMHO!
