Removal of dash

HI. I recently bought a 2001 Q5. The previous owner painted over the original dash, gauge panel, and did a shotty job. Its chipping faded ect...

I would like to remove the dash, sand, clean and repaint it. I see there is 4 main screws around the dash console. Is that all I have to remove?

Obviously I don't want to break anything. Thanks in advance.

Maybe a quick call to the dealer would be good...I wish I could help you.

Might want to check out great lakes skipper to see if you couldn't find an original replacement for cheap. would probably turn out better then trying to sand. Plus you could see how it attaches :)

good luck.

Re: Removal of dash

I think so but you will have to disconnect all the gauges also which can be quite a challenge. Be sure you have a wiring diagram and can read it. The easier method would be to remove the steering wheel, tape it off, hand sand it , and paint it in place.
