Hi everyone!
I'm new to the iBoats community, but a long time forum guy. I recently "purchased" a '72 Glastron V-156 from a family friend. I got a great deal on it and couldn't pass it up. It does need some work, but I'm up for the challenge! I'm hoping to document my entire work on the boat throughout this winter and share on my personal blog and ask several questions along the along here at iBoats. So here goes my first question:
I'm looking at removing the motor in order to get a better look at the transom and replace some fiberglass on the hull. I know the all stringers and the deck need to be replaced, but we'll ask those questions later. For now, I'm wondering what information I should be taking note of before removing the motor? I've been reading a lot and have seen that the placement and height of the motor can change performance a lot and I don't want to mess anything up. Are there any measurements or any notes I should take before removing the engine?
Also, can someone confirm for me that the 'S' on the end of my model number (85EL77S) means it's a Seahorse motor? I'm also looking for a manual for the motor but can only find them for an 85EL77, can't find a manual for the 85EL77S. Does it matter if I use an 85EL77 manual?
(I know that's two questions in one post, not typical etiquette and I apologize for it)
