Has anyone had experience putting a removable floor in the front end of a vee hull aluminum boat? I have a 14' that I'd like to add a floor to everything foreward of the middle bench seat but I would need to be able to take that out once a year for a Canada trip where we need to carry the boat by hand daily and would not want the extra weight.

Re: Removable wood floor

i just cut some plywood panels that fit between the seats, attached a 2x4 block in the center for stability. go to wash it out all you do is pick them up.

Re: Removable wood floor

i have i used 1/2 inch aluminum angle and made a frame all the way from the front of the boat to about in between the front and middle seat. My alum V has 3 tank seats its a semi v though but the aluminum angle is a lot lighter than wood framing. then i put a cut piece of plywood that mounts to framework. there is no framework where the front seat is the wood on top just rests on the seat. behind the seat is a little more aluminum angle witch the same piece of p;ywood is atached. so when i want to put it in the whole thing fits over the tank seat closest to the bow. This works pretty well for me. I can take the front deck off my boat when im done using it each time.

drew he is talking about a floor not a deck/casting, fishing platform. Just to clear things up if the original poster is reading this with a confused look on his face as i was at first.

-nate
