Remind me how to properly wire my alternator

I want to make sure I wire my alternator properly. Can someone please remind me how it is wired. It is for an AQ271c with a 280 outdrive. I would like to finish this on the weekend.

Year and specific engine?

It's an AQ271C as mentioned in the original post. Year means nothing.
Even knowing that, who knows what alternator is actually on it, could be a replacement by a previous owner with an auto parts store near by.

Just post what size and color wires you have to be put on your alt.

If its the colors on the manufacturer's manual, then I have the correct size.

Can I connect a wire to the + of the ignition coil as the wire you labled as "wire with resisitor"?

Bubba, the OP should have the wiring diagram, I gave him/her a link to the OEM service manual download some time ago.

To LA, you will need that resistor on that wire, or the engine won't shut off. If you don't have one, it's part number is 834784 from Volvo. About 30 bucks.

Why wouldn't the engine shut off? I would like to understand more.

I can't explain why it does it, but it does. I ran into the problem of the engine not shutting off due to a missing resistor about 15 years ago, and really didn't get into the why of it, and since it isn't used any more (since late 80's), I didn't dig into it that much.
Guessing, I would guess that with that particular alternator, it keeps power to the coil when the key is off. Perhaps there is a diode in the resistor. But I am not going to buy one and check it out.
