I am new to inboards and I have to purchase a new engine for an '87 celebrity. The boat was winterized by pervious owner but he never pulled the plug, so the engine compartment filled up with water over the winter and cracked the block on port and starboard sides.
Now i have a few questions. Can I use all of the old components to finish off the build. I am gonna have to pay someone to install "new" engine because I can't do it myself, but i dont want to get ripped off. The starter and alternator work well had them tested at an auto parts store. I'm sure I'm gonna need to have the carb rebuilt because i can see corrision on the flaps on top. I have read a post about the aceton trick to check for leaks in the exhaust manifold. Any info would be great. I'm not gonna have the boat worked on until winter so i have time to start pulling things off. Thanks for your input.
