Hi,<br /><br />How do I release the lower shaft for a 2003 25hp mercury s stroke outboard? A mechanic told me there's a clip somewhere at the front of the engine house, but I can't seem to find it.<br />Do I have to remove the starter engine? I've been looking for technical drawings on the internet but can't find anything. Mercury/mariner should make these available online. Why buy them if you bought one of their engines.<br />Many thanks
<br /><br />It's just under and behind the carb on the port side. The clip swings left and pulls out.
