regaining compression

Quick question? Is trying to regain compression by trans fluid a good idea? I was sucessful with this method on an old car of mine,<br /><br />Sb

It depends on the cause of the low comnpression you are reading. If it is due to a stuck ring, unsticking said ring will save you from a costly time-consuming tear-down. However, if using a decarb cleaner (simular to the trans fluid trick) does you no good, then it's time to pull the head, inspect the crowns and bores, and if all looks rebuildable from the top, tear her down the rest of the way.A rebuild is due.
