I have a TODD swingback seat with teak side arms. Does anyone know what TODD typically uses to finish/seal their products? Most of the original finish is gone, but where they were attached to the cushion back, the finish is smooth, semi-shiney, and honey colored. Is that varnish or oil?

Re: refinishing teak

If the grain of the wood is poking through, then it may be teak oil.

Otherwise, smooth and semi-shiney likely means something like spar varnish (or spar urethane).

Refinish the varnish if you want by stripping, sanding, and re-coating, or else you can just clean, sand, and put another coat on.

The teak oil finish would need to be re-oiled annually or similar, no other maintenance needed.
