Has anyone refinished the hull of their aluminum boat ?? My boat has heavy oxidation that I want to get rid off. I have tried Aluminum polish but the results were not that good. I was wondering if anyone has tried painting the bottom with silverish paint and what were the long term effects. Any thoughts or any other products that I can use. I just want to make it look nice.

Thanks.

There are products that will return the original aluminum sheen, but the results are short-lived because aluminum oxidizes almost immediately when exposed to the air, making this an ongoing process. The beauty of an aluminum boat is minimal maintenance which is why most guys just don't bother.

Many new aluminum boats come fully painted so it's an option but only you can answer whether it's worth the expense of having it done, or the work of doing it yourself.
