Boats are easy! Drywall is a PITA! Besides boat repair is done outside and does not disrupt your life.

If I lived close to ya I would do a little horse tradin with ya....drywall is Easy. :)

Yeah, too bad FlaCowboy. Yer about as far away from me as you could get unless I lived in Alaska or Hawaii.

Are you saying you don't like the idea of re-gelcoating?

Gel coat works, but it takes time and is very labor intensive.

The professional refinishers hit it with a Scotch Brite abrasive pad and then spray on a product like Polane (Sherwin Williams two part product), this type of product needs far less surface prep than gel coat and when sprayed will give a mirror like finish that needs no further work.

I use to work in a facility that made fiberglass bathtubs & showers.
I also repaired them at the factory.
Fiberglass fixtures come in two types.
1.Acrylic - A very thin piece of acrylic is formed into the final shape & then strengthened by sprayed fiberglass and wood in places.
Best for home use. Repaired by acrylic paint and buffing. Repairs not best for area's of higher wear.
2.Gel Coat - A mold is waxed then sprayed with gel coat and let to dry. Next it's strengthened by sprayed fiberglass and wood in places.
Preferred for commercial purposes (hotels). Easier to repair and repairs will take more wear.

Repairs can not be interchanged with each other and still have good results.
