I have a Reeds Cub Scow sailboat, which I bought used many years ago. I knew nothing about the boat when I bought it. The boat works fine with no leaks. Now I want to sell it and I find that previous owners modified it. Specifically, the rudder tilting mechanism is gone. Instead, the rudder is fixed in a down position or is taken off the boat. No problem for me at my lake place: plenty of water depth to rig and get started with the rudder down. But one potential buyer balked at this, because his lake has a fairly shallow bottom, so he would have to wade way out to be able to put the rudder down.
Anyone know of where I could get a rudder-tilting mechanism? I am not a purist. Any brand or type of mechanism would be fine, as long as it works. Attached are some photos of the stern of my boat. I understand that the metal plate on the stern is also not original, but it seems to be sturdy and not in the way.
