Why do my reed valve assembly on my 115hp mercury inline 6 have 8 pedals on one side and 10 pedals on the other side and does it matter which side is which?

Cause Mercury Engineers figured that 9 Reeds for each Crankcase would be enough to make 115 HP, that Model Year. I can't recall any instructions in the manuals regarding Orientation

Same CFM goes to each cylinder as reed block only feeds needed cylinder in firing order on the up stroke.

If you put 10 towards the Flywheel, the Upper Cylinder has 10 Reeds and the Lower One would have only 8, so the CFM Flow isn't going to be the same for both Cylinders

I cant remember all the details on why but it had to do with the bleed restrictors and flow.
