Am considering buying a 89 Sea Ray Sundancer T/4.3 IO that's been on blocks 4 years. I'm trying to anticipate essential costs to safely recommision. The list so far includes things like batteries, all fluids (gas, oil, outdrive), IO transom rubber, antifouling paints.

Anyone please feel free to add to the list. Sorry for the redundant topic, I know I've seen this topic in the forums before but just couldn't locate it.

Thanks,
Keith

Re: Recommissiong after 4 yr storage

you forgot the most expensive, exhaust manifolds and risers. if it has the 2 piece manifold, and riser, figure $900, plus labor, if it has the one piece like the picture below, which are no longer available, probably $1200 plus labor.

rdc - has it been sitting outside the whole time? Around the Baltimore area? Better check the engine for freeze damage & most likely water got into the bilge & froze (I never saw any cover keep water out for that long) so check for stringer damage too.

The distributers should be pulled and and a oil pump tool used to relube the motor before running

There will not be any oil on the cam and other places
