After cracking open this lemon, I expected to find a rope seal with ultra black permatex on it. Instead I find this smooth mating surface with a very thin red coating similar to redish clear nail polish. Anyone know what sealant is used for this application?

Sorry it is a force 125/120 and I'm still trying to determine the year.

There are a lot of seal for this application.
Loctite 518 as racerone suggest is one.
I use Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket no.3.
The package has a built in brush in the cap and easy to apply.

You must use a sealer with low " filler " content.----Most if not all of the sealer squeezes out .----That gets you metal to metal contact.-----Needed for proper bearing clamp up.

I use Hylomar blue. If it is good enough for Rolls Royce jet engines it is good enough for me.
Permatex sells it as #8520 Gasket dressing
