I am looking for parts for a recoil starter for a chrysler 3.5 1982. I have been told Mercury Marine parts might fit, but I get no replies. Any help?

Re: recoil starter

Welcome to iboats.

Mercury bought Force which was Chrysler before US Marine bought them and stuck them on Bayliners that look just like Maxums only different and that's good because now you can get parts for a Chrysler from a Mercury dealer even though you couldn't get Mercury parts from a Chrysler dealer.. Before they were Chryslers they were West Bends, but they weren't made in West Bend, they were built in Hartford where they made Kissel cars and outboards before that and who really cares anyhow because you're probably totally confused by now and wondering what the heck I'm babbling on about and just want an answer to your ever so simple and yet so eloquently stated question. WHEW! :D

A Mercury dealer might be able to help. It wouldn't be from a Mercury, but they offer some Chrysler parts yet. If not, they look an awful lot like lawnmower starters. ;)
