Anyone have any tips to replace and customize dash for my 88 Rinker Captiva 206? Would like to monderize it a little bit while we do other interior work. Is building a new dash a good DIY project on these things? Anyone have photos of a custom dash on this year/model boat?
Have no idea where to start on this project if we do it.

jjones0377, lots of folks take on such projects. You never know until you try. Post a few pictures of your present dash and then we could offer ideas and suggestions once we see what you are dealing with. JMHO

So many time when people design panels, they forget that it isn't only what you see on the front that you need to make sure everything fits, but also the behind the panel sizes as well.

I have designed tons of panels for so many different applications for some pretty large companies and corporations over the years. And you have to literally take each part involved and measure them to the tinniest millimeter sizes and verify everything fits front and back before punching a panel out.

That was one of the issued when I designed a panel for an iboater on these forums. It was very tight to get everything to fit both front and back using the parts he wanted to use.

So make a mock-up designs and test them before using expensive materials. It could save you some time and money. JMHO

My dash was plastic and started to crack up after removal.

Even though it had a staggered area, I was able to use a flat piece of Fiberglass.

I wrapped it in black vinyl and used auto door edging.

I could have made a mold of the dash, but I went the easy route.
