Alpha 1 gen 2..... Is there a surefire way to determine if the rear mounts are good.... I have both 4.3's out, and want to be sure they are ok before I reinstall them...
Thanks

If they are not collapsed the outdrives should have litterally fallen off the transom. If they were difficult to remove then suspect bad alignment from the rear bushings. If they both measure the same in the housing and are well below the top of the housing they should be ok.
Being relatively cheap to replace, why take a chance on blowing the coupler midseason?

I use a torch to remove the inner sleeve and some of the rubber. Then use an exact size drift(socket, machined steel round stock, etc.) to drive the remains out the bottom. I made a tool to install then but you can have them pressed.
Whats your location?

Ayuh,.... Lay a straightedge across 'em,... Are they even, both the same height,..?? Both 1/2s,..??

If so, put the motors back in,....

Ayuh,.... One half of the rear motor mount assembly is in the flywheel cover,.....
One on each side, port, 'n starboard,..

Lookin' at each one in each side of the flywheel cover, are they even,..??
Are they inset/ protrudin' the same amount on each side of the flywheel cover,..??

What makes ya think they're bad,..??

I don't necessarily think they are bad..... I have both motors out, and just want to be sure to address any "possible" issues....
Also I think there was a design change, and if the new design is better I will change them out...
Any advice is greatly appreciated..
Thank you for the clarification....

you guys need to check your computer clicks, its only 10:58 am in the east
Place something flat across the mount and measure the depth . If both are recessed and equal they should be good, but for how long?
I try to get the original ones that use the doublewound washer (not knurled on the bottom) but have installed a few motors with the newer knurled base .

In your opinion is it worth changing them even if they are good?
If you think so, do you have access to the part numbers?
If not thank you for the replies...
