Dixie, the socket and extension has TOO much play at the point where they attach, (unless they are welded together), even then the chances of them being on the same plane is slim to none. <br /><br />As DonS mentioned, the couplers are not cheap, Waste one or two of those puts a serious dent onto your bank. (Thats how I learned about alignment). I'd check my alignment twice a year! <br />Maybe a little much. Doesen't cost but an hour to check it.<br /><br />How long was the outdrive off of the boat, (while you were rebuilding it)?<br />Could water saturated the wood stringers while it sat, and swelled them?<br /><br />Give your town, maybe there is an iboats member close to you who will lend you theirs, AND maybe even show you how to use it! These Guys, and I think 2-3 girls, are a GREAT group!...sl
