If that motor with the untrustworthy look quits, you can use the umbrella for a sail. Good thinking OMC!

OK all, As far as fishing goes. I enjoy it very much for short periods of time(6 hours max). I do it to relax not to make work out of it or to be the best at it. This tourniment is kind of a redneck thing with prizes for the longest bass, shortest legal bass and runner ups with a big shore feast at 5 0'clock. Just plain fun.

You'll be at a disadvantage fishing out of the back of the boat OMC, how's the bow set up??

Re: Ready for the Ole Bass tournament.

This is our lazy day set up, the umbrella is not usually used( as in never) but we thought we would put it on for a laugh. Our normal fishing set up is pedestal seats fore and aft with the trolling motor on the bow like normal people. We do use the lawn chair on the back quite a bit when anchored in the river current. One of the best spots to fish on the stillwater is just around a small point.Pull the boat up to shore and fish out the back with minnows. This is how and where the winning fish has been caught the last four years in a row. None of us in the derby are really fishermen. Like I said before its just for a fun get together on the water. Shoot, our little flat bottom is the closest thing to a real bass boat there.

Well that sounds like a great tournament, I'd like to get in on some of that action on my lake, maybe for Blugills!

Well we didn't win anything but man what great food. My wife and I each caught a 16 1/2 inch smallmouth but the winning fish was 18. By the way, I lost a nice one because when I tried to set the hook I hit that stupid umbrella.....back to the old drawing board. :D

Re: Ready for the Ole Bass tournament.

CalicoKid, Why don't you start a tournament on your lake. The way ours works is friends, family, neighbors and co workers all put up a $5 entry fee. Everyone brings a dish to pass and all fish entered have to be at the designated campsite by 4 pm. The grill is lit and food cooked and a big munch down at 5-5:30. The first prize is 1/2 of the entry fees plus a home made trophy. The rest of the money can be split however you want...second place, third place, smallest fish, booby prize, ???...you get the idea. We had about 30 entries this year.
