Ready for some work

My boat has been well taken care of, for it's age the HellaStout is the boats name, the hull is in need of some work never had any done in 40 years, so here is my meeting of the mind's before I begin this undertaking, I need to be sure of, all of my steps before I proceed, I plan to sand the entire bottom portion of the boat, then clean with water and rags, then I'm going to go around and wherever needed, I'm going to use marine bondo to fill in the minor scratches, wait a few hours then, lightly sand the entire thing again, clean with water wait a few hours and prime it, wait a few hours and paint it with hydro coat, let dry and repeat. well that's my plan. I am really happy to do it, it has been a good boat and will continue to be, next is the interior, it's still very nice but old and outdated, so it will be getting done, roughly at the same time I do the hull I have actually already started, hope my wife does not read this, hahaha

Some pics would help. I would not use bondo below the waterline on any boat. Welcome to Iboats

Yeah, Marine Bondo is still Bondo and not recommended for below the water line. If you're gunna be using paint, I'd recommend mixing up some epoxy with some 3M Glass Bubbles to fill the gouges and scratches. It will give you more working time and sands easily. Much better than the bondo stuff. Being in California you should not have a problem finding a distributor for Epoxy and Glass bubbles. You should first wash the hull with Tri sodium Phosphate mixed in warm water. Wipe all the areas needing filled with Acetone and then fill. Then do your final sanding and fairing and wash her again with TSP. Then a final wipe down with Acetone and then you're ready for primer. If you want a good inexpensive paint job you can use Valspar Oil based Tractor Paint with their Hardener. It creates a very hard durable surface and you can paint the entire hull for under $100.00 bucks.

Two things, resize your pics to 640x480. They're a bit small. Close ups using some kind of reference point, i.e a quarter or a dime or matchbook gives us a better idea of the size of the damage.
Second, For those small chips in your Gelcoat, I'd recommend a Gelcoat repair kit from WestMarine or any other reputable marine store. Quick and simple mix up of gelcoat paste, Acetone wash down of the chipped areas, fill with the paste and sand and fair. You'll barely notice them. Post some pics of the topside areas as well. If they're no worse than those you can do it all with a gelcoat repair kit.

ok everything is going as I had hoped, now I have to get the boat off the trailer any ideas, I guess this boat is about 1800 pounds around it any how, any ideas would have to be from the concrete up, no over head beams or supports. I'm thinking along the lines of jack stands, 2x6 made into a beam of sorts and a jack to lift with, a small piece of wood with a cushion on it between the wood and the stern, I am not going to make another move till I get some feedback, I trust myself but I'm not right all the time

I'm using two engine jacks and two ratcheting 4 inch wide straps, that we use for securing cargo in tractor trailers and aircraft, for the back and a single jack stand in the front, like a tripod, wooden block with a dish towel on it very stable and secure enough I would not get in it but I feel safe working under it, I got it all filled sanded and primed, with lots of beer for my Budd's who helped, let it dry over night and paint it some time tomorrow morning, hopefully I'll be able to let it down by Tuesday afternoon.
