This plug stopped firing when it blew out of the head of my K2500........ WOW!!!!! what a racket it made .......... it only had about 10K miles on the plug but of course the winter does take it's toll on plow trucks.

Had 4 of the 8 just disintegrate from the rust. There was a WHOLE lot of praying when they were coming out.

So 8 new plugs are in.

Looks like they have been splashed one to many times in road salt, I have seen it around here quite a few times.

Were the ones that feel apart on the same side? Is a splash shield missing/damaged?

Those are really bad for only 10K miles - But you knew that. :)

The plug is CR43 what?
Wonder if a different plug that meets requirements and doesn't rust, like MR43T or such

It is a wonder that you were able to get them out...now they can rust in peace..."pun intended"

Looks like it's a CR43TS, must be a TBI engine. I would think most people change them before they get rusted that bad.

I thought blowing out plugs was a Ford trait?

Yes, a TBI 350 in my 95 plow truck. LOL the plugs were installed with the factory crate motor and transmission 10K miles ago.

I honestly never gave the plugs a thought since it was running so good. Live and learn.

Ayuh,.... Great Idea,... Cross it to the Marine plug, which is an Alloy body,...

10k miles, truck runs in the winter for the most part, sits the spring, summer, fall?

How many years did it take to hit 10K miles?

LOL well here is the picture....... I got the truck in 2008 and it had 7K on the motor/trans and 197K on the odometer. Currently it is about 30 miles from 200K so I have put 3000 miles on it since April 2008. I do know last year I put 600 miles on it and I guess it averages about 500 miles a year.

I sure have put allot of money and time into the truck and I repaired all the body panels, new fenders, ALLOT of metal welded in and new paint in 2011.

Here is the original post and it includes the repairs in 2011 http://forums.iboats.com/non-boating-technical-topics/another-project-k2500-245640.html This truck replaced my 78 bronco (hindsight I should have kept that) which rusted completely away :(

But nothing beats the ability to use the 9' Plow and casually reach up to adjust the heater ;) That is the primary reason I will not put a plow on my 4 wheeler.

Re: Read this spark plug

I tried the ATV with a Plow for a couple of years, just didn't have the umph for these parts and then throw in the cold factor and I sold it, and got the plow truck with the 9 footer on the front, one pass down the driveway and I am done, I have to let it warm up longer than it takes me to actually my drive and my section of the road, all the time adjusting the heater and listening to the CD player!

;)

You need to use it more, it's rotting away by sitting most of the year.......:)

I agree. my father leaves his plow truck sit nearly 8 months out of the year and it costs him a ton of money to get it road worthy every year from sitting. I told him to simply drive it once a week.
