re-install shift cradle screw

Hi I did a dumb mistake. i removed the shift cradle screw on my 2005 25hp Johnson Long shaft.

I did not turn the prop or touch the grear shifter, but the screw will no go back in.

How do i put it back in..???? I just looked online at an ownens manual all it says about this screw is DO NOT REMOVE. Thats was my mistake.. Help how Do I put back in?

lay motor on its side. Use a dental pick, ice pick, etc. to find the hole in the shift cradle while you slowly move the shift lever back and forth. When you see part of the hole appear, use the pick to center it, then install the screw. Make sure its seal is in good shape.

Sometimes grinding a mild point on the end of the screw helps.

I dont seem to see any holes when I move the shift lever? should i disconnect the shift lever for the external arm?

OK I tired wiggling the shift arm.. using picks etc.. When I finally get it aligned.. it wont shift out of gear.. so its in wrong... reading other post it seems I have to open the Gear case now..?? so I have to remove prop, gears , clutch dog...I am trying to figure out how removing the lower unit will help me re-aling everything?
