Re: Re-boarding Bunk trailer

I went to the marina today planning on towing my trailer to the boat lift. When I got there my boat was already on the lift and my trailer was ready to go. I replaced six of the nine bunks today What a pain in the ***** The old bolts were junk All rusted up I had to use a half in wrench to remove them and a 9/16 th to replace them. They were on just plain 2x4's It's a good thing I decided to replace everything because if I hadn't I beat the boat would have fallen off of the trailer. It's a Five Starr 2006 .My wqife went around everything with a wire brush and i'll repaint everything tomorrow. I got some really good spray paint from West marine Just for rust. If it rains before I get done I'll put up my 10x10 pop up cover.

When I replace the boards on mine, I drilled and counter the hole then used galvanized 3/8" carriage bolts so that the head was below the board. Then I bought Polymyer material from Tap's plastic, cut to suit, drilled and countersink for stainless screws. I didn't bother painting the boards because they dry out quick, unlike being covered with carpet.

CAUTION: DO NOT remove the hook from the bow eye until the boat is at the water's edge. They don't call that material "slick" for nothing

Well the bunks are on the trailer, Got a little wet on the last three but that part is done. I won't do that job again. Tomorrow I will paint the bolts and nuts that my wife wire brushed yeastewrday. It's pouring down rain now. I dropped off the LED tail lights off at the marina .I decided to let them do the work. Too much bending for me.One other thing ,I think I will go nuts tomorrow with the staple gun .I have plenty left. I'll get some picture's tromorrow.
