I was wondering, after watching the front wheel assembly moving around, how it didn't seem very structural when it taxied to the water. But after seeing the take off, the gear (wheels) are only used to taxiing and could never withstand actual landing on them.
There are a few pluses for this type setup. If you are ever delayed for a while on board, you could open up your window and fish during that time. Sounds like a win win to me. I also like how they can even jettison your luggage with the ballast water after take off. No more lost luggage because they know exactly where it is.
