Random locking up trying to shift into reverse on alpha 1

Recently replaced my bellows, water inlet hose, lower shift cable, shift shaft bushings and shift shaft lever.
The issue I'm having is at times when going from neutral to reverse the linkage locks up and if I pull to hard the interrupt switch will just kill the engine. Now if I play with the throttle control a little I can get it to slide into reverse just fine. Going forward no issues. And coming out of fwd and reverse no problems.

I'm starting to think there's something up with the shifting in the lower unit since I just replaced all the shift related items up to the bellhousing area.

Any thoughts?

I think I figured it out. Seems that the barrel of the shift slide is catching the lip of the cable fitting. So I dremeled the hole some to give it a smoother radius. I'll report back if this fixed the hang up
