Raising the floor up

My floor and runners are getting replaced this spring time. I am also removing the seats which have foam under them for flotation. In order to keep enough flotation in the boat I was thinking about raising the floor up 1-2 inches or what ever I need to.

Does anyone see any issues with doing this? The boat is a 88 Maxim 2000

Where else would I put the foam flotation that I am removing that is under the two seats?

I am putting in 2 chairs in place of the lay down seats that are currently in there.

This is a fiberglass boat...Correct??? I/O Correct?? Are you going to check the Motor Mounts and the Transom to ensure they are good to go??? If the Deck and Stringers need replacing there's a very good chance that the MM's and Transom will need attention too!!! Are you sure there's no Foam under the deck?? Lot's of MFG's put flotation foam under the deck too!! I don't see any reason to raise the deck 2". You should be able to get enuf foam under the deck to serve your purpose.

Yes it is a fiber glass, I/O I am re doing the motor mounts and I will inspect the transom when I get everything out.

I am guessing the deck is full of foam under it, This is why I want to raise it up to add the foam I remove from the seats under the deck.

The Coast Guard formula doesn't count seats as flotation. Let's see some pics of these seats.

Kind of a crappy picture, but that is the base under the seats. I know they are foam filled as I drilled into one last year when I was looking at replacing them with better seats on pedastals.

Is that a back-to-back lounge seat with storage under it? Hard to tell. The pics I've seen of 1988 Maxum 2000 SR's have the lounge seats.

yes the back to back / lounge chairs. But no storage under them. They are boxed in and filled with foam.

Foam filled seat boxes do count as floatation by the CG. I wouldn't raise the floor, there could be some other places to add foam if you really want to.
