Hi there,
First time posting here and writing about my first boat we got just last year. Have a sylvan 2000 spacedeck. Radio wasn’t working and wanted to upgrade anyways so I installed a new Sony deck. When I get up to a louder volume, but not that loud, the radio just turns off and then back on again and won’t stop until I turn the volume down. I do know one speaker is blown, could it be shorting it? Should I check the power wiring? Not sure what to do next.

How did you power it? Thru the existing wiring harness? Is this problem with the engine running or just from the battery?
If just with battery I'd try it with the engine running to see if more voltage helps. It may be that the power wire is too small/long/corroded to provide enough power. You could try running a temporary wire and powering it directly from the battery to see if that helps.
It's possible that a blown speaker is contributing to the problem. I would certainly not be risking running a brand new stereo into known bad speakers.

The problem happens when the engine is running as well. I spliced old wires into new harness. Connects back to the battery and I am suspect of the wires. Going to replace the speakers this summer. I also found a YouTube video tonight of the same issue because of a bad ground.

Exactly what KD4UPL said. There may be a bad connection, either the ground or pos side. When you turn the volume up the radio draws more current. If there's a bad connection the voltage drops causing the radio to shut down.

Had EXACT same issue with new hi power sony head unit. DSXM80. Crutchfield said I needed to bypass the connectors and run power straight from battery, fused of course. Issue resolved.
