Glad you got your motor fixed! Just a little FYI for everyone for the future, The temp switch in the head turns quickstart OFF when the engine reaches a specific temperature, it has nothing to do with turning quickstart on. For quickstart to turn on it must recieve a voltage from the starter solenoid (yellow-red wire), it must have voltage from the power coil, and the power pack must be functioning properly.

What if the temp sender or the black/white wire is grounded to start with ??

Quickstart turns on for about 10 seconds each time the engine is started, then turns off. This happens regardless of engine temperature and regardless if the sensor or wiring has shorted to ground.

TLL is exactly right. Even if engine is hot, and white/black is already grounded due to engine temp, QS activates on a new start. This comes from the yellow/red energizing both the starter solenoid AND the powerpack when key is in START position.
