My 14' Starcraft boat has a 1986 30 hp mariner on it and it had a 9 7/8x10 1/2 F prop on it.
Now I just bought a 10 7/8 x 11 prop- what will the changes be? They told me it was going to be very un-noticable, is this true?

So basically:
9 7/8 x 10 1/2
vs.
10 7/8 x 11

whats the difference?

Thanks.
-John

Re: quick question about props

I think you will notice a change. But it's not necessarily a bad change. You may notice a slower hole shot, but higher top end speed.
Just be sure you can achieve FULL RPMs with the new prop. If not, don't use it,as it is putting too much strain on the engine.
It like running a larger diameter tire on your auto.

Re: quick question about props

So im assuming it will be harder to pull a tuber or knee border then. I have no way to tell my RPM's- should I get a gauge? If so how do I hook it up? Whats the RPMS i should run at? Thanks for the help.
-John
