Question on replacing wood in seats

Is the proper way when replacing wood in cushion bottoms, backs, etc to resin coat the wood? All the stuff I'm pulling out obviously wasn't, but I have my doubts that most was original. I only want to do this once, but wondering if it was a waste since the resin's integrity would be violated by the staples when re-upholserting, and resin isn't the most waterproof anyway. Just wondering the "right" way. Thanks!

My opinion on the "right way", use plastic instead of wood...

I'm going to throw my hat in with snapperbait on this one. But it is expensive.. if you really want to use plywood incase it with either fiberglass or truck bed liner.
I'm going to be making the same decision next year. Thanks for the Link snapperbait!

Link

Or use pressure treated ply.

WOW $354.00 for a 54x96 inch piece. You can buy a lot of plywood and epoxy for that.
