The forum won’t allow me to send a message for some reason. Maybe you can send one to me? I have something I’d like to discuss regarding a new (to me) Nissan 70HP.

Thanks!

Ask here, discussions via PM defeats the purpose if an open forum.

FYI: TOHATSU guru hasn't logged into iboats since end of May 2019 so not likely to get or reply even if you could have sent a PM

Ok that may be why! Haha

I just upgraded my setup by purchasing a used Nissan NSD70A2.
Says on tag it was manufactured March 2002 but apparently they only made this model number in 2003?? Not sure there… doesn’t make much of a difference, but I would like some advice:

This engine has be stored for 3 years. I have only owned older Johnson/Evinride engines and this is a different breed, so I would like to know all the steps you guys think I should take to properly prepare the outboard for startup. I want to make sure I cover all the necessary steps to ensure filters/hoses/electrical/lubrication is correct before I start it up for the first time in 3 years (from what I was told).

I want to change the impeller/associated water pump parts, any necessary filters, plugs, wires, lower unit oil, motor injection oil, etc… anything else?

Thanks so much in advance!

I have plenty more questions we can get to after you read all I have bombarded you with already!

BTW this is a 70HP TLDI model if you couldn’t tell that from model number m. I forgot to include that.

Hi there, I’m thinking it might be best to just add a link to your new thread and lock this one because it may help others know TOHATSU guru is now retired it seems.,, I seem to recall (like others) he was often called out to help like this in the past.,. So Thanks for posting and good luck with your questions in the other thread… The Iboats mod team.
