Fellow brought in a 150 ST. He said it wouldn't get up and go. (He was in the Pittsburgh BASS Master Classic). Well, pulled the hood and the fuel lines were like rocks, the VRO pump wouldn't pump jello on a bet....pump the bulb and the carbs looked like Niagra Falls.

Compresssion is 80psi per cylinder. All spark good across a 1/2 inch gap.

This is what really took me cause I never seen this before....the carbs. Upper and lower carbs are the same...flat tops, 1 3/8" throats with .038 main jets. But the middle is 1 15/16" with .034 mains and are not flat tops. Did some research and found that the flat tops were installed on the "conventional" 150's/175's and the...well, rounded tops on the ST's.

So I called the guy and asked about it. He said he didn't know about the carbs being different. He bought the engine and had it rigged to his Ranger. Said it ran well up till a couple weeks ago before the Classic...(he didn't know that boats were being furnished for the Classic)

I guess my question is, in your opinion, will this middle carb be any problem or maybe create a problem...in the long run? The man said it has ran good until now. I didn't think to ask how long it's been on the boat. I'm kinda stumped on this. Got some thoughts like running lean on #3 and 4 cylinder but if he's been running for a while, those cylinders don't seem to be any worse for wear than the others. And if I read correctly, the bores are the same.

Signed..

Stumped in Ohio....
