Re: question about wax - is it OK to use?

I wax my boat about once a week when in use in the salt. Mark.

You know Mark, there is a house for sale down the street from me, has a water-view even. You wouldn't have to stop boating during the winter, AND I would let you wax my boat as well:D

awaltertx, the transom needs a color restorer type of application which is a type of oxidation remover. The best that I have ever used is dolfinite color restorer. You will need to work aggressively in small but very complete sections. With a rotary polisher will by far work best.Dont do this in the sun!!It will eliminate your working time. You need the cream to stay wet to work.Follow up with some silicone based wax or polish and it should come out great.Charlie

3 out of your 4 posts say the same thing and it is real close to spamming.
You have been warned.

Hi everyone. I’m with the company that makes Bow To Stern Protectant (BTS) and KVD’s Line & Lure Conditioner. I saw this topic on the forum and thought that I might share some information about the care for gelcoat surfaces. .....

..... If you try BTS you will find it to be the easiest to use, longest lasting and most versatile surface care product on the market.
I invite you to visit the BTS website to learn more about this great product at: SPAM

Blatant advertising.

And his side kick, Billgull, has a link to a marine insurance company as his signature.

Don't the mods monitor this stuff anymore?

i imagined the guy on TV who sells the orange cleaner and fabric cleaners, the one who's always yelling at ya.

i just spray 303 occassionally, after washings.

and, i think keeping it out of the sun while you're not using it will do more than wax.

the great wax debate lol. I have used Mothers Marine Wax and its mostly carnuba like some mentioned with regard to marine wax. It is a nightmare to get off. I quit using it and have been using Nu Finish for the last few years. Says right on the bottle (marine, auto or aircraft). Works great and leaves a nice gloss. Wipe on wipe off...simple! If you have to have the marine products for piece of mind, I would go with 3M. There is nothing 3M makes that is not good. Great company!

Mark42,

If sharing information pertinent to the subject of this topic and being passionate about a great product is blatant advertising, then guilty as charged. That doesn't diminish the value of my info.

You did get advise, although somewhat biased. The claims were backed up with some verifyable facts. Do a little research based on the explanations given by Robfad, and you can either endorse and/or try his product, or dismiss it based on unfounded, incorrect, or fabricated claims.

Yes, Mark42, the sidekick possiblity is a little fishy, especially with both accounts having a mere 4 posts. Could be coincidence.

I have to give Robfad some credit for laying basis to his claims that could be researched with a little searching.

I'm going to go search a certain 4 posts and see if the sidekick does indeed post behind his mentor LOL.

Hi I my name is Kenny from San Antonio Texas and I have been looking at the sight for a while but signed up today to post.
I bought a 1971 pacemaker and was looking for a good wax when I found this thread.
Some one told me that lime away works great as a oxidizer but I am thinking of useing listerine before the Lime away.
But I did buy some Mothers California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax
to use after.
What is ya'lls thoughts on that wax?

With reference to the gentleman who's promoting his BTS product, I would be very leary of anyone (and their product) that suggests there are bacteria that eat gelcoat!
