Question about tying in a new trim/tilt switch

Hello, long time lurker but I finally found a question I couldn’t find an answer someone already posted about. Two years ago I replaced my control box for my ‘84 Mercury 80hp (3 cyl) with an aftermarket set I bought online, Vevor is the brand (I know I should have gone OEM but I didn’t have the money at the time). They have worked great but when I went to raise my engine to change my water-pump this spring I noticed my trim/tilt switch that is built in to the handle had broken off and fell out (probably due to cold temps and cheap plastic). Rather than buy a new set of controls I opted to purchase an individual trim/tilt switch and I am going to mount it in on my console and the plan was to tie into The existing harness that is already ran at the control box. I lost the manual for the controls and can’t find one online so my question is this, coming out the back of the control box are four wires (blue, green, brown and red, pictured below) with female bullet connectors on them and those four seem to be the same color scheme as the wires on the other end that connect to the engine for the trim/tilt, are these extra connectors for a trim/tilt switch and can I tie my new switch into the harness there? It seems like that is their purpose but I am not completely sure and don’t want to mess up and of my wiring as I have done in the past. I am hoping someone has experience with these aftermarket controls or mercury engines and can shed some light. Thank you

The issue is the comment
can I tie my new switch into the harness there?
The connectors are for up (blue/white) and down (green/white) are the same but these wires are coming from the throttle handle switches and not ones that get added in

So these are essentially leads that are tied into the harness coming from the switch already installed in the handle? Is it possible to splice my new switch in there to control the trim/tilt?

Yes

Don't understand, the switch is in the handle, so what is your "new switch"?
The controls came with a switch built into the handle, that switch broke off and is no longer useable. I purchase another trim/tilt switch (one that won’t fit inside my throttle handle) and my plan is to mount it on the console. I am wanting to wire it in with those bullet connectors at the control box with this new switch if it’s possible.

Why not spend $10 on a small switch that does fit in the handle?

If you supply a picture of the old switch, maybe it can be matched up.

Give them a call. Switch may be one of the universal ones on Amazon (who also sells the Vivor control).

Here is the vendors website link for that control:

Here is their contact info:

Just look at the switch, get the part numbers off it, and buy a replacement switch.

Will do no good to wire new switch from console to those wires coming from the handle, they just go to the broken switch

i'm sure the connector's slide over pin's. i would assume you could just make extended wire's for the whole thing.. why wouldn't you be able to disconnect those wire's from the original switch and plug your new connector's into the plug's meant for your old switch? ofcourse make sure you use same gage wire, marine grade too. i mean all the other opinion's and option's sound better, but if you were trying to get around all that, yes i would assume you could do that. do you know which wire's / pin's are for the tilt, trim?
