Question about towing large boat

I have a question that doesn't really pertain to a boat, but to the vehicle you use to tow your boat. I am in the market for a new truck and am looking for something that will tow a 19 ft Javelin and still get good mileage. Does anyone tow a large boat with a 4 cylinder vehicle successfully? Thanks, John

Its better to be over-powered than under-powered. If you get a 4 cylinder engine it will be working harder (using more gas) than say a V6.

For example; I had a F-150 that I used to pull an enclosed trailer with. It had a V6 and I had to really run the engine hard to get up to speed and maintain 70 mph on the interstates. I traded it for a V8 Tundra and it gets better gas mileage pulling the same trailer and its not working nearly as hard to go the same speeds. And it was the same story when I wasn't pulling the trailer, the V8 truck still gets better gas mileage than the V6 did.

Something to thing about.....

Thats the speed limit.....

When I am towing the boat my limit is 60 mph or 5 mph less than the limit, whichever is lower. I do not care what the signs say. I value my life more than I value making sure the cars on the road do not have to pass me.
